What is baby massage?

Baby massage is a gentle, nurturing practice where parents or caregivers use their hands to stroke, rub, and knead a baby’s body in a soothing and rhythmic manner. This practice has been used for centuries in various cultures around the world as a way to bond with infants, promote relaxation, and support their physical and emotional development.

Enhances Sensory AwarenessBaby massage engages the baby’s sense of touch, helping them become more aware of their body and environment. This can contribute to their sensory development and coordination.

What a typical massage will look like

Our baby massages will typically start with gentle strokes on the legs, as they are usually the least sensitive part of the body. From there we move onto the belly, gently massaging the area to help your baby's digestion - which is particularly beneficial for little ones experiencing gas or colic.

The chest massage applies both hands, following natural contours of the chest. This aims to promote opening the chest to make breathing easier. Arms are massaged similarly to the legs with gentle strokes. As with an adult back, we never apply pressure to the spine but instead on the muscles along the sides.
